Florence, Ariz. –The NEW and IMPROVED San Tan Valley Substation located in the Fry's Shopping Plaza at Combs and Gantzel (155 W Combs) will open to the public during the Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday March 6th, 2010 at 1200 pm.

Sheriff Paul Babeu and Patrol Lt. Doug Brown invites all out to the Grand Opening Celebration and Safety Fair on March 6th from 10 am- 2 pm in the parking lot in front of the new substation (155 W Combs).

There will be plenty of health and safety information at the safety fair and great vendors at the vendor fair. The Sheriff's Office and Johnson Ranch Homeowners Association have arranged a fantastic day full of fun and safety to include a prescription drug turn in event in cooperation with the County Attorney's Office and a professional document shredding company will be on site for FREE document shredding services. With the warm weather soon arriving, the Sheriff has arranged water safety demos and information on gun safety. Gun locks will be available from Eddie the Eagle who will remind kids of what to do if they find a gun. There will be PCSO staff on hand who will offer youth finger printing, K-9 demos, balloon animals, jumping castles, face painting, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, free food and much more.

The Law Enforcement Students from CAVIT High School will be hosting a booth to provide information and collect donations for a trip they are hoping to take to visit Washington DC during National Police Week in May. They will also be hosting a car wash that day, near the safety fair, and selling candy bars to raise money for their trip.

Sheriff Paul Babeu expressed excitement over the opening of what he calls the “best sub-station yet.” Sheriff Babeu said, “The Grand Opening of our new San Tan Valley Substation in just one of the many steps we are taking to improve service and give back to our communities. Our Sheriff’s Office has planned a great day. The safety fair is certain to be a fun-filled event for all ages. We planned this event in conjunction with our grand opening in an effort to engage our community in taking steps to stay safe and be healthy while highlighting improved service and reforms.”
