Sheriff Paul Babeu endorses Jonathan Paton

February 18, 2010

Jonathan Paton for Congress
Praises Paton's military and immigration experience

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu announced his endorsement today of Jonathan Paton as the Republican nominee in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, stressing his military service and record of cracking down on illegal immigration.

“I’m proud to announce my strong support for Jonathan Paton for Congress,” Babeu said. “Jonathan has shown through his actions that he knows the importance of putting his country before himself. As a veteran, I admire his decision to defend America by voluntarily enlisting for service in Iraq. Jonathan also understands the importance of cracking down on our porous border. He wrote the nation's first law to crack down on human smuggling, making it easier for sheriffs like myself to put criminals behind bars. Let's send Jonathan to Washington and get this country back on track.”

“I’m honored to have the support of a great lawman like Sheriff Babeu,” Paton said. “Sheriff Babeu knows the challenges we face in Southern Arizona keeping our residents safe and our border secured. I’m grateful to have his trust and support in our fight to clean up Washington.

Babeu was elected sheriff of Pinal County in 2008 and has since brought organizational improvements and new leadership to the agency to better protect his county‘s residents. He currently serves on Reserve military status in the Arizona Army National Guard.
