Group Cites Babeu’s Experience on the Border in Addition to Plans for Cooperation in the County

Border Patrol endorses Paul Babeu for Pinal County Sheriff
Tucson, AZ – Edward Tuffly, President of Local 2544 of the National Border
Patrol Council, announced that group’s endorsement of Paul Babeu for Pinal County
Sheriff in what was a unanimous decision.
The National Border Patrol Council has over 3,000 members in Arizona. Hundreds of
those members live and work in Pinal County. It’s a group that Babeu knows very
well through his 16 months as Commander of Task Force Yuma on the US/Mexico border
while in the National Guard.
“Border Patrol agents need supportive allies in the law enforcement community who
are willing to work with us to combat illegal immigration, drug smugglers, and other
criminals,” Tuffly said. “We strongly believe that Paul is the best qualified person
to lead the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office based on his past assistance to the Border
Patrol in his role as Commander of Task Force Yuma and his willingness to work with
us in the future.”
Babeu said he welcomed the support of those who risk their lives day in and day
out on America’s real frontier, the U.S./Mexico border. “It’s an honor to receive
the support of this organization I’ve had the privilege of working alongside,” Babeu
said. “As Sheriff, I will partner with Border Patrol and ICE to stop illegal immigration
and the crimes that derive from illegal immigration in Pinal County.”
In addition to this latest endorsement, the Arizona Police Association, Arizona
Highway Patrol Association, Maricopa Police Association, Apache Junction/Gold Canyon
Fire, and the Gila River Fire Association have also endorsed Babeu.
